While we’ve been in our current home for a little over two years now, I still have a long list of projects I want to finish. Most of the rooms are about 90% complete, but there are details that I’d really like to focus on, like trimwork for most of my walls. But as it goes with homeownership, the projects don’t ever end so I wanted to at least document how far I’ve come in each room, which leads me to today’s post… our master bedroom refresh! And let me tell you, this room has come a long way.
Here’s what the room looked like before. I had my dark nightstands, some roman shades and nothing on the walls. It was boring and didn’t reflect my style.
Then it finally got some TLC with the addition of a bright rug, a stunning 7-foot gold floor mirror, new nightstands and dresser and we swapped the roman shades for curtains. Talk about a difference, amiright?!
I absolutely love light and airy neutrals. And while there was absolutely nothing wrong with this rug, as we headed into Winter I found myself wanting to warm the space up a bit with some grey tones. So I found this beautiful gray area rug on Joss & Main and knew it would be the perfect neutral to add the coziness I was going for. I then swapped out the bench for one that’s more open, added art above our bed and switched-up the bedding. Just those simple changes have truly cozied-up the room and it’s a space I love to be in. I’ve talked about how your bedroom should be your sanctuary and this space is where I can unwind after a long day and feel at peace.
