First of all, I can’t believe I actually managed to stick it out for the first two weeks (especially given the dreams I’ve been having of cheating with my food). So I must give myself a pat on the back for that.
Okay, so here were my thoughts on week 2:
Day 8: I feel really good today and super energized! Perhaps this is the “tiger blood” the program talks about and I’m just experiencing it early!
Day 9: Take that back. I’m really, really tired.
Day 10: Dull headache. No tiger blood here.
Day 12: I feel good. Not super energized, but good.
Days 13-14: Kind of tired, but okay.
In all fairness, I have been sleeping late which I probably shouldn’t be, so I’m going to try and make it a point to get to bed at a decent time these next two weeks. I also want to incorporate working out. I had planned on working out since day 1, but I got sick and am finally feeling better so I think it’s time to throw that into the mix.
So has eating been more challenging? Yes and no. Yes in the sense that I’m constantly looking for new recipes to try so that it doesn’t get too boring. No in that I (surprisingly) don’t feel like I’m fighting any major cravings. Sure, every now and then I’ll want to bathe in some mac n’ cheese or stuff my face in a tub of movie theater popcorn, but I generally feel like my cravings are at least controllable; I don’t feel like “I have to have” X like I used to, so that’s good!
My favorite recipe we tried this week is this paleo pad thai (pictured above). It’s seriously so good and tastes like the real thing (we made it twice last week!) We also experimented with zoodles (below from my snapchat earlier this week), which is now going to be on regular rotation.
As far as progress goes, per the Whole 30 rules, you’re not allowed to weigh yourself until the 30 days are up. Well, yesterday I decided to break that rule because I just wanted to know for myself how much weight, if any, I dropped. In these last 14 days, I dropped 5.2 pounds. Not complaining. It’s also a little bit more motivation to finish off these next two weeks strong; half-way there!
I better look like a Victoria’s Secret Angel by the end of this, s’all I’m sayin…
