In Monterey, we stayed at the Portola Hotel & Spa. We were really happy with our stay here: great location, huge (and modern) room, and their homemade chocolate chip cookies you get upon arrival are oh-so-delish! During our first day in Monterey, we walked to Fisherman’s Wharf for a quick lunch and continued on to Cannery Row to visit the aquarium.
That night, we had dinner at Sardine Factory, which has three distinct dining rooms. We got seated in the Conservatory, which is really pretty. The host also let us check out their wine cellar where they host private parties; really cool room.
On our last day, we had breakfast at First Awakenings before making the famous 17-mile drive, where we drove by the many golf courses of Pebble Beach (exciting for George). We then made a quick drive through Carmel, which is charming with its village-like buildings.
All in all, although we drove a lot in 3 days, the beauty of the trip was really in its journey.

wow, looks like such a fun little roadtrip!
i am jealous that you got such great weather in monterey and carmel, every time i have been it's been overcast and pretty cold! though it is still so pretty when it is kind of eerie like that!

It was a great mini-getaway. I guess you'll just have to come back, then, for better weather! 🙂
