Last month, we had our annual family photos taken by Rachel of Harper & Grace Photography. I’ve said this before, but I know how annoying family photos can be, especially with little ones. There’s so much involved just leading up to the day of the shoot: finding a photographer, setting a date and time and agreeing on a location, and then coordinating family outfits. Then the day of the actual shoot itself tends to be pure chaos. We’re usually running late, I’m dressing the kids once we get to the location (because you know, toddler stains and baby blow outs), and just holding my breath before an epic meltdown ensues. And getting the kids to look at the camera? Good luck.
But once that photo gallery is delivered to my inbox, I am SO happy. As a mom, I’m usually the one behind the camera, so it means a lot to me to have some pictures with my kids where I don’t look like a hot mess and rather like a real person lol. Having those special, frame-worthy memories, is so worth the stress and chaos that goes into the photoshoot. Besides, it’s just once a year. I also love looking back at each year’s photos to see how much Adam (and now Hannah!) has grown. It’s crazy what a difference a year makes. You can see some photos from 2015 here and last year’s here.
This year, we had our photos taken by Harper & Grace Photography after I found Rachel on Instagram. I love the look of light and airy photos and Rachel nailed it. She was such a pleasure to work with and was patient with my kids; she has 2 of her own so she knows what’s up haha. I had asked her to find a “woodsy” location near my home because I didn’t want to drive far with 2 kids and risk having them be in a bad mood after a long car ride. She suggested Kenneth Hahn State Park and the look was exactly what I was going for. And we were done within an hour, which was perfect because the kids moods started to turn. If you’re on the fence about having family photos taken, trust me and just do them! You won’t regret it! And if you’re in the LA area, I would highly recommend Rachel for your shoot!
