For A’s first birthday, I went with a jungle/safari theme.
I think I decided on this theme when he was only 3 months old (lol) because he has this safari play mat that he loved at the time. It’s such a fun theme that you can infuse with a lot of different color variations. I used a lot of orange, green, brown and yellow. Here area few a ton of pictures from the party, along with sources.

We had the party at the Dockweiler Youth Center. It’s a nice open room that’s right on the beach, so you have really pretty views.
I got these adorable “passport” invitations from Etsy.
We made some “vines” to hang from the doorway entrance and added this giraffe to welcome guests to the “jungle”. The vines were made using this twine, these leaves and some leaves we cut from construction paper.
I hung A’s progress photos with the same jute twine with these chalkboard clothespins. For this table, I printed and framed some of his cake smash pictures and added a first birthday chalkboard I made (using this tutorial), these safari animals, and used this book as the guestbook. The tablecloths are from Party City.
The gift table. The safari suitcase was used to hold birthday cards (from Homegoods). The hanging monkeys are from Dollar Tree!
For entertainment, we set up a fun safari photo booth. Backdrop can be found here, prop here and here, “Jeep” here, and camera here.
Food was from Hummus Bar
Appetizers were Pretzel Twigs, Jungle Vines (veggie straws), Tiger Tails (Cheetos) and Monkey Munchies (fruit). Wood place card holders can be found here.
Drinks included Jungle Juice (orange juice) and Swamp Water (lemonade).
Water bottles were made using this tape.
Bananas for Monkeys (Banana Heads), Earth Worms, Malaria Pills (Mike n Ikes), and Party Animals (animal cookies). Candy bags can be found here.
The cake table was my favorite part of the room! A huge thanks to my mom and sisters who made that awesome orange backdrop and the vines!
The cakes were from Cake Studio Cafe (she also did my wedding cake)
Someone was eager to get into his cake lol
