This post is long overdue (how are we already almost 2 weeks into the new year??) but here it is.
We took our maternity pictures when I was 30 weeks pregnant. Photo credit: Love & Lemonade
I can’t believe this picture was taken a year ago this month. I was 32 weeks pregnant and on the way to tour the hospital’s maternity ward. Now he’s 9 months old!
Celebrated my baby shower in February
In March, we finally moved into the house and hurried to get the nursery done (my due date was March 31st). Nursery tour and sources here
April. The highlight of my year. Almost a year to the day after my miscarriage, my sweet angel was born. Just days before, I wrote A this letter. I don’t know if I’ve ever mentioned this on my blog, but if you were to ask me a few years ago, I’d tell you that I was pretty indifferent about whether or not I ever had kids. But then something changed; I don’t know what, but it just did. So after my miscarriage, my desire for a baby was only magnified. Maybe it was God’s way of showing my heart what it truly wanted, but never knew. I can’t thank the Lord enough for blessing me with my beautiful baby boy; God is so, so good. There are so many nights where A is sleeping on my chest, and I am so overcome with joy and gratitude. A, you are the piece of my heart that I never knew was missing.
Never pictured myself singing lullabies
Sitting in a rocking chair in the middle of the night
In the quiet, in the dark
You’re stealing every bit of my heart
With your daddy’s eyes
What a sweet surprise
And now I’m holdin’ what I never knew I always wanted
I couldn’t see; I was blind ’til my eyes were opened
I didn’t know there was a hole
Something missing in my soul
‘Til you filled it up, oh, with your love

Celebrated my first Mother’s Day in May
In June we baptized our little angel and celebrated George’s first Father’s Day
Wine tasting in July
In August, I made the (big) decision to resign from my job to stay home with A. I have to admit that I kind of felt like a sellout (I got my law degree to stay home??), but I don’t regret my decision for one second. I am so grateful to be able to stay home with my son, especially during these early years; they’re just so magical and special. Plus, things on the career front ended up working out, as I’m now working for my previous employer from home as a Consultant. Best of both worlds. Again, God is so good.
We celebrated four years of marriage in September with a weekend getaway at the Bacara Resort. I also attended my 5 year law school reunion in San Francisco.
In October, we took A to his first pumpkin patch and celebrated his first Halloween
November was quite eventful.
A’s debut on Jane the Virgin
Dad’s 60th birthday
A’s first Santa Visit
First Thanksgiving
Both George and I celebrated our first birthdays as parents. A is definitely the best gift we’ve ever received.
December was pure magic. There’s something about the holidays with a baby that makes them that much more magical.
Reflecting on the year has made me realize just how special and blessed it was. Thank you, God, for your abundant love and blessings. Prayers for another year full of love, health and happiness.
