Liebster (German): sweetheart, beloved person, darling

The Liebster award is given by fellow bloggers to new blogs with smaller followings but huge potential; it is a great way to find new blogs as well as support one another.

I was lucky enough to be nominated by not one, but two fellow bloggers!  Thank you SO, SO much to Lauren of Lauren Elise and Mary-Katherine of The Gold-Hatted Lover!  You are too sweet!

The rules of the Liebster award are as follows:

This is actually a really hard question for me, as my husband and I are currently trying to figure that out.  My “fun” answer would be to live all over; I would love to live in New York for a bit (non-winter months), Paris (so cliche), the Italian countryside, etc., etc.  But we’re both family oriented and our families live here in So. Cal, so we’d never leave.  So my real-world answer is that I’d stay in LA, and probably opt for living in Pasadena.  It’s not Paris, but such is life 🙂

I’m a jeans gal.  If I could wear jeans everyday, I would (and rotate with leggings). But for now I’ll have to make do with casual Friday and weekends.

Another hard one considering my husband and I are at the movies pretty much once a week.  I don’t know about the best movie I’ve EVER seen, but a (fairly) recent favorite of mine is “Life of Pi”; the cinematography and meaning behind the movie are both beautiful.

Oy.  I hate to not answer the question directly, but I don’t have many favorites of anything!  It probably has to do with my indecisiveness!  TV shows currently watching (DON’T judge): The Bachelor (hello, Juan Pablo!); The Goldbergs; Modern Family; Grey’s Anatomy; Impractical Jokers (if you haven’t seen this, it’s a MUST; hilarious!); Homeland.  Dexter and Breaking Bad were also on the list until they stopped airing.  I know, I watch A LOT of TV and I’m not proud of it.  But if I really, really had to pick a favorite show, it would be….. Sex and the City, duh!

Hmm, I’d say my parents and their work ethic.  They immigrated to this country with little money and English skills.  But they worked hard (and still do) and raised four kids, constantly instilling in us the value of an education.  If it wasn’t for them, I probably would have never considered law school.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”  Proverbs 3:5-6.  It’s a guarantee that life will be hard at times and simply suck, raising questions to which you may never know the answer.  It’s important to try and trust in God during those trying times.  If you don’t know about my brother’s story, you can read about it here.

Another “favorite” question that makes me uncomfortable lol.  I hate to admit it, but I mostly listen to Top 40.  KIIS F.M. is programmed first in my car.

I used to be all about Facebook, but Instagram now dominates my life.

As a creative outlet.  Being a lawyer is as non-creative as it gets, so it is much needed!

People who wear sunglasses indoors/at night and poor grammar.

Coffee.  I have Gold benefits at Starbucks.  It’s a problem.

Now, this really is enough about me, but I still have Mary-Katherine’s questions, which I’ve answered below

1.  What is your favorite realistic brand and your favorite lust-after brand?

For my “realistic” brand, I like J.Crew and Forever 21 (no shame!).  For a lust-after brand, Chanel (sigh).

2.  What is your favorite book?

I was an English major, and until this day, John Milton’s “Paradise Lost” is on my list.

3.  Who was the best concert you have ever been to?

Michael Buble.  Not only is he exceptionally talented, but he’s hilarious too (and a little raunchy!)  He really puts on a fantastic show.

4.  What are the top three places you would like to travel to?

Last year, my husband and I finally did a Europe trip and went to Paris, London, Florence, Venice and Italy (these were my top list).  Now, I’d like to go to Thailand, Ireland and Greece.

5.  Where did you grow up and where do you live now?

I grew up in So Cal and still live in So Cal.  Not very exciting lol.

6.  What is your favorite season?

I love Fall.  The changing leaves are gorgeous and the weather is perfect.

7.  What are your top three favorite nail polishes?

Essie’s “Ballet Slippers”; OPI’s “Lincoln Park After Dark”; and Essie’s “Bikini So Teeny”

8.  What are your favorite trends for the coming year?

It’s not really a “recent trend,” but I’ve been into pattern mixing lately.

9.  How would you describe your style?

Simple.

11.  How long have you been blogging?

I started in August 2012 but didn’t keep up with it.  I started getting active again in October 2013.
